CAIRO (March 7, 2010)—Adam Gadahn, al-Qaeda's American-born spokesman is calling on Muslims serving in the U.S. armed forces to emulate Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, the Army psychiatrist charged in the deaths of 13 people who were killed in a shooting rampage at Fort hood.
Hasan is charged with 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted premeditated murder in the Nov. 5 shooting rampage at the post's Soldier Readiness Center.

Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates has called on every member of the Defense Department to play a personal role in creating a secure environment that will help to prevent more tragedies like the Nov. 5 shooting rampage that left 13 people dead at Fort Hood, Texas.
Gates issued a memo Tuesday after reflecting on results of the independent review he directed after the incident to ensure the safety and health of servicemembers, civilian defense employees, and their families.

Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, the man accused of opening fire Nov. 5 at Fort Hood, killing 13 and wounding 32, may be housed at Bell County Jail as soon as this week, his attorney, John Galligan, said Monday.
Officials at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio where Hasan is currently located informed him late last week that his therapy there was complete.
Hasan is paralyzed from his chest down due to gunshot wounds he sustained the day of the shooting.

FORT HOOD (February 25, 2010)—Col. James Pohl, the investigative officer appointed to conduct a hearing that will determine whether Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan goes on trial for the deadly shooting rampage at Fort Hood, has set a new date for the proceeding.
The Article 32 hearing, which is the military equivalent of a civilian grand jury review, was originally scheduled for March 1, but is now set to begin on June 1, the Army said Thursday.
